General:

• Prefers bright indirect light

• Prefers aerated and well-draining potting mix

• Prefers high humidity

• Non-toxic

Watering:

• Water when first inch of potting mix is dry

• Water thoroughly until potting mix is saturated

• Fully drain excess water

Timeline

Aug 6/21: Hubby bought me this plant for our 12th wedding anniversary! This is my first calathea and I’m a bit nervous about it.

Calatheas are rumoured to be quite finicky and dramatic so I’m not sure how this green baby will do in my care… but I’ll try my best. I think I’ve already underwatered it (leaves have crispy tips) and overwatered it (leaves are feeling a bit weird) so I’m still trying to find the sweet spot.

The plant itself is absolutely gorgeous! Dark green leaves with delicate pink stripes. The leaves open during the day and close up a bit at night.
