TIMELINE
Jul 7/20: ZZ Plant 001 joins our family! As part of exercises and activities in The Artist’s Way this week, I decided to add five houseplants to our home. ZZ Plant 001 is the second one. Photos don’t do this plant justice — the leaves are absolutely stunning in person. I picked a plant that has some new growth, and I’m excited to see what happens to the tiny bud.
Jul 9/20: ZZ Plant 001 is even more stunning in real life.
Jul 9/20: I’ll be keeping an eye on this little bud on ZZ Plant 001.
Jul 19/20: New leaves starting to emerge from the bud.
Aug 20/20: What a difference a month makes! The little bud is now fully grown — as shown by the blue arrow.
Aug 20/20: ZZ Plant 001 is so beautiful.
May 10/21: ZZ Plant 001 seemed really crowded in the tiny nursery pot so I repotted it into a larger clay pot.
May 10/21: Look at these roots!!
May 10/21: Lovely rhizomes. :)
Dec 21/21: A few months after I repotted ZZ Plant 001, I noticed TONS of new growth coming out of the soil. There has been no new growth (aside from the bud that was already there when I purchased the plant) so this was very exciting.
Dec 21/21: I spy three points of new growth peeking out of the soil from this angle!
Dec 21/21: More new growth! Four tiny stalks and one biggie!
Dec 21/21: Final angle showing a bunch of new growth. :)
Jun 15/22: The new growth was intense! It grew so fast and so tall! You can still see the original shape of the plant, which was around half the height it is now. All the new growth is in a slightly lighter and brighter green.
Jun 15/22: ZZ Plant 001 has doubled in size!!
