Spider plant 004
TIMELINE
Jul 8/20: I wasn’t sure whether to add Spider Plant 004 to the website as it’s quite the stretch experiment for a new plant parent. This wasn’t a full blown spiderette but rather a collection of three tiny leaves on the stem that attached Spider Plant 003 to Spider Plant 001. I thought I’d try propagating it to to see what would happen.
Jul 8/20: Spider Plant 004 still attached to the mother plant.
Jul 10/20: Spider Plant 004 was propagated in soil. I also tried propagating the other two leaves on the stem in water, but those didn’t root.
Jul 10/20: Soil and water propagation experiments.
Jul 22/20: Spider Plant 004 started developing roots less than two weeks after being propagated in soil, but one of the leaves turned yellow so I cut it off. There’s some new growth that I’m keeping a close eye on. More updates very soon!
Jul 22/20: Spider Plant 004 is so sweet.
Aug 8/20: Ooooh! Spider Plant 004 has grown a healthy new leaf.
Aug 20/20: Another new leaf!
Sep 20/20: I love seeing Spider 004’s growth over time!
Nov 29/20: Spider Plant 004’s roots are growing so nicely! They’re so plump and healthy.
Nov 29/20: I accidentally broke off one of the little babies from Spider Plant 001 so I popped it in with Spider Plant 004. I’m not sure if it’s going to survive but I’ll keep my eye on it.
Nov 29/20: Spider Plant 004 looks like it’s growing pretty well. Here it is with the little spiderette popped into the front. I hope it roots!
Mar 17/21: It’s time for Spider Plant 004 to move to a larger pot. Look how healthy the roots are!
